Limnora
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 19 September 2026
Limnora is an independent app for exploring official seasonal bathing-water records across Europe. It has no user account, no developer-operated backend, no advertising and no tracking or analytics SDK. The developer does not collect your searches, location or purchase history through this app.
Limnora does not require registration and has no server-side user profile.
Information the app does not collect
- No sign-up, name, email address or phone number is required.
- No user account or server-side profile is maintained.
- No history of your searches or map activity is stored on a developer server.
- No payment card or banking details are received by the app.
Information kept on your device
The app stores its offline EEA bathing-water database, your favourites, comparison selections and whether you have seen the welcome screen in local app storage. It does not store a location history or sync a profile to a developer server. Local bathing-water search works without a network connection.
Deleting the app removes its local storage. Device backups may retain a copy under your system backup settings. Your App Store purchase is associated with your Apple Account and can still be restored after reinstalling.
Location
Location permission is optional and is requested only after you choose the location control. It is used to find nearby official bathing waters, show your position on the map and calculate distances. The app does not store a location history.
Apple services
Apple Maps supplies map tiles, destination search and directions. Map and destination requests may share search terms, the visible map region and related service information with Apple. Directions open the Apple Maps app. Apple's handling of these requests is described in Apple Maps & Privacy.
The App Store handles the optional one-time Pro purchase. The app uses StoreKit to verify access and restore purchases; it does not receive your payment card details. See App Store & Privacy. Diagnostics and aggregate reports that you choose to share through Apple's system settings are governed by Apple; the app contains no separate reporting SDK.
Official bathing-water data
Bathing-water classifications, history and national profile links come from the European Environment Agency (EEA), based on reporting by national authorities under the Bathing Water Directive. On first launch, and afterwards at most once a day, the app downloads the dataset directly from the EEA's public data services and stores it on your device; browsing it is then done locally. Like any internet request, this lets the EEA's servers see your device's IP address. The app sends no account, search or location data to the EEA, and the developer receives none of it.
Your choices
You can browse without granting location permission. Permission can be changed at any time in iOS Settings. You can use the free map, latest classifications, nearby list and official profile links without purchasing Pro.
External links
National authority profiles, EEA pages and other external links have their own privacy policies. The developer does not control those services.
Data sharing
Limnora does not sell personal data. Requests may be processed by services necessary for the app to function, namely Apple Maps, Apple StoreKit and the European Environment Agency's public data services.
Retention and deletion
Local favourites, settings and the cached dataset can be removed by deleting the app from your device. If Limnora later adds accounts or backend services, this policy will be updated with information about managing and deleting that data.

Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above and, where required, in the App Store's app privacy disclosure.
This policy is also summarised offline in the app under Data sources → Privacy and from the Pro screen.
